Be a target out of range

Keelin Godsey, a former Bates thrower and All- American, attended the U.S. Track and Field Championships where he placed 3rd in the hammer throw. Keelin’s success is especially awesome because he is a transgender athlete, identifying as a male but competing as a woman. While at Bates, Godsey’s story was in a Boston Globe slideshow that hints at some of the social adversity Godsey has had to overcome.

How cool would it be to have an openly trans athlete and advocate on the U.S. Olympic team? Not to mention a Batesie…
