Last week I discovered Beyonce’s song “Lay Up Under Me”. I was surprised to find that such a great song was not available on the original 4 album. The song is only available on the deluxe version of 4, an album this not yet available on iTunes. I know, I know, iTunes is rejected by many music consumer because a) it’s expensive, b) $1.29 for popular songs or songs by popular artists… UM NO. (see a), and c) iTunes is missing “The Whole World” by OutKast (or another song you can’t live without… maybe something by White Town? Seapony? MC Hammer? Blondie?).
Maybe “Lay Up Under Me” has been left in obscurity because the song is not kid friendly. Sure, “Birthday Sex” was kid friendly, especially when the word sex was bleeped out for radio play. Who could miss the kid friendliness in “Shots,” especially when kiddos under the age of 12 learn all the lyrics and then proceed to yell the chorus and fist pump at the dance at summer camp (been there. seen that. still a little scarred/scared)? Of course, Beyonce’s own “Naughty Girl” was deemed kid friendly (but maybe that was just a fluke).
So. In review. What have I been listening to this week?
This (because “Pumped Up Kicks” is not the only song by Foster the People).
And this (Watch the video… (maybe) win free stuff? Nuff’ said).
“Shake it like a Polaroid picture,”
