TUSC Presents: Brown and Blue Day (and Jumbo Sports Roundup!)


Break out your finest Brown and Blue Tufts gear on Thursday, and stop by the Campus Center Upper Patio between 11 and 3 for free food, giveaways, music, and even a mechanical bull.

The first 150 Brown and Blue wearing people there will receive free Tufts tee shirts or hats courtesy of TUSC.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country:  The Tufts men’s cross country team is on its way to Winneconne, Wisconsin this week to compete in the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship after it was announced on Sunday that the Jumbos received an at-large berth into the NCAA field. The Tufts women’s cross country team received one of 16 at-large berths into the 2011 NCAA Division III Championship Race which will be held on Saturday (Nov. 19) at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, WI. The race will begin at noon ET.

Quidditch: Tufts was eliminated from the World Cup on Sunday morning, when theTufflepuffs lost by an unofficial score of 150−50 to the University of Maryland in the final match of pool play.

Women’s Volleyball: The Tufts volleyball team is the only squad in NESCAC to earn two spots on the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-New England Region team announced on Thursday. Junior setter Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) and senior libero Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, CA) were among 14 players named overall.

Men’s Rugby: Took 2nd place at the New England D3 Championships, losing by one goal in the final minutes of the match.

Women’s Soccer: With four players named to the 2011 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Conference Teams in women’s soccer announced today, Tufts had its best representation since the 2005 season. Jumbo first-year defender Catharine Greer (Rye, NY) was also selected as NESCAC Rookie of the Year.

Tufts senior midfielder Lauren O’Connor (Dudley, MA) is on the First Team, while senior forward Jamie Love-Nichols (Cortez, CO), junior midfielder Alyssa Von Puttkammer (Park City, UT) and Greer are on the Second Team. All four players garnered league honors for the first time.
